Embrace the cosy sound of winter with Bares’ warming track, ‘Fruit’.

Following a collaboration with synth-pop producer SKYEPAINT and the release of an acoustic EP, Ella Sterland – aka Bares – returns to her indie-soul roots with her newest single, ‘Fruit’. Written and recorded in Melbourne with collaborator Renee Stein and with input from band mate Jazure, ‘Fruit’ is a celebration of winter and all things calm and comforting. Barnes’ recent successes have included landing a Netflix sync in the cult-favourite ‘Terrace House’, as well as scoring a place on two Spotify editorial playlists, and with her latest release, Barnes proves that she has no intention of slowing down.

Some songs have the feeling of a warm, cosy blanket – and ‘Fruit’ is the perfect example. Wrapping around its listener with a potent mix of 70s soulful groove and swaying rhythm of lush harmonies, it evokes a palpable sense of comfort and good will, even if you are “Feeling kinda blue.” Punctuated by a strong, lo-fi beat, Ella’s velvet vocals mix effortlessly with the gentle twinkling of the synth chords, growing brighter with the addition of cinematic strings that illuminate the already summer-bright hook.

Despite its warming summer sound, ‘Fruit’ is an ode to winter’s cosy comforts, and an invitation to take pleasure in the season’s delights.
