Post-Punk outfit Baudelaire debut their darky menacing debut single ‘Prayers’.

Black Country natives Baudelaire are a post-punk band with an industrial edge and gothic undertones. Like their poet namesake, the six-piece are not afraid to explore the darkest corners of the human psyche and to find semblances of beauty in despair. Having already supported well-established acts such as Cabbage, Document and King Nun, Baudelaire make their official debut with the single ‘Prayers’ that encapsulates their darkly searching sound. Recorded with the help of acclaimed producer Gavin Monaghan, it will be part of Baudelaire’s set when they will play the Sonic Wave Festival in Birmingham.

Opening with pounding drums and a blitz of an incessant, droning guitar riff reminiscent of Soft Kill, ‘Prayers’ unfolds like a frantic, soul-ripping eulogy. Rejecting love and connection if favour of solitude and unrestrained energy, the soaring vocals are filled with gloomy intent to “take control”. This is music for all those who feel, intensely, the world’s paradoxes and the torturous decisions those might bring, and who seek an outlet for their emotional cacophony in one dark, sonic explosion.

Meandering between desire and despair, ‘Prayers’ is a cry from the darkest corner of the heart.
