The title track of Caity Krone’s latest EP, ‘Work Of Art’ is a peppy torch song, lyric-forward and playfully flippant in its detail. Krone’s crisp, honeyed vocals tell a story of that particular strain of unrequited love that demands you state your feelings regardless. Caity says this record “encompasses that kind of loneliness that occurs when you never quite get your fill of someone, always pining for a little more, even after all these years.”

Smacking of noughties vocalists such as Vanessa Carlton and Sandi Thom, you can hear earlier influences like Joni Mitchell and Carol King but they’re heavily filtered through that twenty-first-century clarity and bite. A sweet, honest song, unabashedly innocent and enthusiastic.
