Devin Reardon releases intimate indie-folk ballad ‘Ireland Song’

For a track written in the depths of isolation, you’d expect a sadness to ‘Ireland Song’. Instead, this indie-folk ballad is a melodic depiction of personal strength, finding comfort in the healing powers of music, and an optimism in the inspiration behind it. Having experienced a particularly painful break-up after graduating from college in the US, Devin Reardon packed his things and moved to Ireland for a fresh start. However, what was planned to heal quickly became the opposite as Covid-19 hit, rendering County Wicklow a more permanent excursion. ‘Ireland Song’ is about finding home in a cold and unfamiliar place. Choral harmonies elevate Devin’s soft vocals to create an audible blanket; acoustic guitars gently cooing in the distance. The track is at once familiar and welcoming, finding universal truth in the vulnerability of the human experience. ‘Ireland Song’ is a reminder of our strength when things feel against us.
