Fake Dad are full of soul in their hypnotic lo-fi love-song ‘I Like The Beach’.

Making mesmerising music from the depths of their Brooklyn studio-apartment, Andrea de Varona and Josh Ford – aka Fake Dad – are a couple and a creative duo. Despite coming from different musical backgrounds, Andrea and Josh merge their sounds into a resonant and magical concoction, that seeks to both surprise and comfort their listeners. Their latest track, ‘I Like The Beach’ celebrates their playful romance, and draws inspiration from Trent Reznor’s haunting film-scores. Self-produced under the mentorship of Grammy award winning producer Swagg, Fake Dad are ready to make their mark on the Brooklyn indie scene and beyond.

Riding on waves of reverberating bass, ‘I Like The Beach’ washes over its listeners with the power of a brisk sea breeze, full of promise and hints of distant shores. Like the crunchy sand beneath one’s feet, this track is filled with effervescent textures, from the warm staccato of finger clicks to the smoothness of Andrea’s sugary vocals – seductive and languorous as she croons this moody love-song. Led by a pulsating beat, the falsetto chorus introduces hints of electronics and echoing guitar riffs, before ending abruptly like an all-too-indulgent dream.

The perfect marriage of angular lo-fi and modern soulful groove, ‘I Like The Beach’ is an atmospheric day dream in sonic form.
