Enter the stylish nightscape of GIYA’s subversive track “Blood”.
Following the release of her 2020 debut EP, “The Almost Real”, GIYA is back with an accompanying music video for her track “Blood”. Exploring the perils and disquiet of urban lifestyle, the track captures the paranoia and dizzying anxieties of forgotten nights. Our worst fears are presented in a Tarantino-esque reimagining, narrated by GIYA’s engaging vocals.
Balancing somewhere between chill-wave and pop, the track’s reverberating, heartbeat-like base, gently strumming guitar and distant, ethereal synths create a mysterious and enticing atmosphere. GIYA’s resonant vocals and brutally matter-of-fact lyrics evoke a variety of striking images that are as disquieting as they are strangely intriguing, like a true crime documentary you can’t look away from. In fact, this transgression is right at the heart of the accompanying music video – a dark vison of moral ambiguity set in a Sin City-like world. As the track fades away, a melancholy piano melody ushers in a feeling of regret and vulnerability, drawing a final curtain on this tale of violence.
Like bathing in moonlight, “Blood” is a track for night-time revelry and transgression.
