Dublin duo Hawke the Band release punchy ode to long-lost love ‘Molly’.

“Unapologetic in message and triumphant in sound, ‘Molly’ pays tribute to the unfulfilled potential of drunken introductions.”

In the third of twelve planned single releases for 2021, ‘Molly’ makes for a nostalgic foray to a time that once was. “In the back of a smoke-filled room in the bar”, sing old friends Richie Power and Eoghan Mac Mahon, setting the scene for the tale of Molly and her one-night romance with Eoghan.

Pairing understated vocals with the graininess of old-school instrumental, ‘Molly’ is both anthemic and full-bodied. Drawing on the 90s indie-rock of Oasis and Radiohead, Hawke the Band create a uniquely timeless sound – written not in era, but in feeling. Their success on the indie festival circuit perhaps comes as no surprise, billed alongside the likes of Jake Bugg and Tom Grennan. Unapologetic in message and triumphant in sound, ‘Molly’ pays tribute to the unfulfilled potential of drunken introductions.
