Everyone needs “Closure”, the sunny self-worth anthem by ISLA.
NYC-born, Cape Town-raised singer-songwriter ISLA has been writing music since she was 12 years old. Now she is 22 and has been performing locally since 2019, all while undertaking a genetics and biochemistry degree. Inspired by the likes of Bastille, Lorde and Kelly Clarkson, her warm alt-pop sound continues to grow and develop, finding listeners as far as Sweden. After the success of her debut track, “Break The Fall”, she is back with a follow up, “Closure”, a song filled with her signature harmonies and bouncy pop melodies.
An uplifting track about overcoming difficult circumstances, “Closure” deals with leaving behind a toxic relationship and regaining a much-deserved sense of freedom. The strumming acoustic guitar provides a warm core to this buoyant track, while the jubilant strings and airy backing vocals add a feeling of lightness and relief. Reflective and deeply personal, the lyrics delve into the depths of emotional turmoil that comes with a messy breakup but are quick to provide reassurance and renewed sense of self-worth.
Infectiously upbeat, “Closure” is the sound of the light at the end of the tunnel, radiant and endlessly comforting.
