Jacko Hooper is back with the winter warmer, ‘Muttered Words’.
Ebbing out of his Brighton bedroom for this sixth single of the year, Hooper has folded love into each of the folk ballad's minimal layers. Clear of its intention, the track flows like a stream of thermal heat making their way through a barren climate of acoustic ice. Lit by sunbeams of lyrics searching for a sustained love, in opposition to the track’s title, the message is crystal clear. Reminiscent of early Ben Howard, the emotion grows from the simple composition of guitar, whirling synths and vocals.
A track previously included a limited edition compilation of demos, it's a fitting end to a year of recurring releases.
