Singer-songwriter Jared Harper may have come out of the US show The Voice, but has since developed his own style of old-style rock combined with modern rock. He has defined his sound and proved what he could do with his debut EP If I’m Being Honest. Now he continues his signature laid back style with his new EP If I Can’t Have You. Languid and smooth, it sounds like it should have been released in the summer, his voice gliding through the music. Despite his very smooth voice and sound, there’s a slight raw edge present in both that gives it a very pleasant flavour.
The single strikes a fine balance between radio friendly music and more alternative rock. It's uncomplicated, easy to listen to and still manages to rock a little. His guitar playing takes a slight backseat on this single, but it’s a refreshing change that shows his songwriting talents.
