Sunny, confident and soulful, Leah Rich captures the joyful spirit of pop. As a first generation American, Leah owes her determination and musical self-expression to her family’s defiance in the face of the oppressive Soviet regime. After a lifetime of playing underground jazz, Leah’s musician parents finally immigrated to the United States, where their daughter was able to pursue her own musical career without fear or compromise. With already one album under her belt, she is now looking to release her sophomore offering Caspian this coming November.
Kicking off with a deep, rubbery baseline, “Honeybee” floats through playful synth-lines and buzzy percussive elements. Breezy and shimmering, it invites us to follow our passions and intuitions, inserting a much needed feeling of lightness into our busy-bee lives. You can hear the smile in Leah’s voice as she sweetly croons, seemingly lulling us to sleep in a flower-filled meadow. Like the warm glow of the sun, her presence spreads throughout the track, buoyant and refreshingly up-beat.
