London alt-rockers Leogang explore what it’s like to be ‘Illfitting’ in their defiant new track.

London alt-rockers Leogang explore what it’s like to be ‘Illfitting’ in their defiant new track.

London five-piece Leogang have already made a name for themselves in the capital’s underground rock scene, while their dynamic blend indie and psychedelia has also earned them sold out shows at iconic venues such as a Camden Assembly and Soho’s Spice of Life. Like the post-punkers IDLES, Leogang use their music to shine a light on difficult emotions and personal struggles, writing about mental health with great empathy and vigour.

Punchy and unrestrained, ‘Illfitting’ looks straight into the face of dark emotion. Kicking off with a burst of uneasy laughter, the track launches into a burst of driving guitars and gritty rhythm, reminiscent of the early Arctic Monkeys. Simultaneously confrontational and deeply vulnerable the lyrics plead, “I’m going crazy/ Why don’t someone come and save me”, commanding our attention and empathy. This is punk energy hijacked and turned inwards, unabashedly seeking to expose the inner self to the wider world.

Dark and visceral, ‘Illfitting’ uses music as a point of catharsis, letting flow the pent up emotion and inner struggle that many us face in this day and age.
