Leopard Rays take a bow to their fans in their euphoric new track ‘Curtain Call’.
The purveyors of “a modern punk mentality for the playlist generation”, Leopard Rays are known for their explosive melodies and catchy guitar-driven hooks. Consisting of Luke Dawkins, Sean McCloskey, Tom Pattison and David Wilcox, this Hartlepool alternative-rock quartet incorporate their loves of Oasis, Nirvana and Manic Street Preachers into their own blend of rock, pop and shoegaze. Backed by BBC Music Introducing, the band have gone on to play Heelapolooza and Gathering Sounds Festivals, as well as supporting Pulled Apart by Horses and Estrons.
‘Curtain Call’ spills forth in a tsunami of euphoria, carried by punchy drums and driving guitars. Mellowed out by the haze of grungy reverb, the track effortlessly builds up to the release of the anthemic chorus – the kind that makes you want to sing along at the top of your lungs. Dawkins’ vocals drip with 90s and early 00s indie glamour, weaving themselves through the melody with seductive intent and rock-star self-assuredness. This is rock music at its best – laid-back yet unashamedly exhilarating.
Leopard Rays are not ones to change their spots, continuing to delight their audiences with their signature sweeping sound.
