Indie-pop duo Little Fuss return with a tale of miscommunication, ‘Dear Aria’.

“Teeming with whimsy and addictive beats, ‘Dear Aria’ sugars the pill of bitter emotions, turning frustration into joyful creative fruition. ”

Indie-pop duo Little Fuss return with a tale of miscommunication, ‘Dear Aria’.

Formed while vocalist Olivia Martinez and producer/bassist Cody Von Lehmden were studying abroad in Spain, Little Fuss is a whimsical indie-pop act that takes its influence from 80s icons like Talking Heads and Kate Bush, as well as contemporary pop artists such as Caroline Polachek. Despite their difficult mid-pandemic beginnings, Little Fuss’s debut EP, ‘Hazy’, has gained the recognition of fans and music publications such as Atwood Magazine and YVYNYL, as well as of a number of music blogs worldwide. Recorded and produced in their Boston apartment, the duo’s latest track, ‘Dear Aria’, follows up on their early success and invites us further into their colourful sonic universe.

Plunging us straight into an atmospheric soundscape, ‘Dear Aria’ builds up a sense of expectation with punchy, pulsating synths and stripped back arrangement that hinges on hip-hop-like bass. Martinez’s vocals fluctuate between sugary softness and staccato pointedness, conveying a tale of frustration and miscommunication. Despite the angst of the subject matter, the track is characterised by its playful, upbeat tone and ethereal vocals, aided by the candour of Little Fuss’ DIY approach.

Teeming with whimsy and addictive beats, ‘Dear Aria’ sugars the pill of bitter emotions, turning frustration into joyful creative fruition.
