Shake yourself awake with Lost Woods’ return single “Sleep”.

Lost Woods are back with a new line up and fresh, rousing musical material. “Sleep” is their first track since 2019, and boy is it punchy. This new chapter of the band’s musicianship is marked by the addition of brothers Lucas and Miles Sly to the band, as well as a reaffirmed commitment to narratively intriguing and musically soaring indie-rock. With their new material, the Adelaide natives are seeking to bring out the best of their previous work, while injecting it with fresh inspiration and dynamism.

Coming in strong with a wall of melodic sound, “Sleep” grips its listener and keeps them in its power – like the all-consuming insomnia that is the subject of this song. Desperation builds with Peter White’s soaring vocals and incessant guitars, only to be sharply contrasted with moments of relative stillness and delicate vocal harmonies. The music video for the track is delightfully creepy and highly evocative of night terrors. Hinging on the delicate and expressive work of the dancer Lance Collins, it pulls us into a dark and imaginative world that Lost Woods have created and keeps us enticed until the end.

A song that reflects an internal battle with sleep and self, “Sleep” plays with atmosphere and expectations, constantly keeping its listener on the edge of their seats.
