Madison Deaver finds her voice with her rousing track “That’s What She Said”.
“That’s What She Said” is Madison Deaver’s first track off her freshman EP “Tongue Tied”. Evoking the powerful presence and resonant voices of female singers of the 80s and 90s, Madison Deaver redefines what it is to be a young vocalist of today. Seething with brutal honesty and quirky wit, her lyrics are both incredibly relatable and a source of escapism, confidently saying things we wish to have said ourselves.
A mediation between LA attitude and UK cool, “That’s What She Said” brings out the best of both music scenes, with the help of Dreamcar/ No Doubt drummer Adrian Young and The Struts’ guitarist Adam Slack. Reminiscent of rousing garage-rock ballads, this track ultimately rests on a powerful vocal performance from Madison, who effortlessly switches between inviting softness and self-assured defiance.
An edgy power ballad, “That’s What She Said” is the kind of tune you would belt out in your car – with the windows down and wind in your hair – as you speed away into the California sunset.
