Have a sip of MarynCharlie’s refreshing ballad “Ginger Beer”.

Burgeoning singer-songwriter MarynCharlie may only be 22, but this Amsterdam native knows how to write songs with plenty of wit and personality. Taking inspiration from her own life, she hopes to speak to the experience of her peers with unabashed honesty and cheeky sense of humour. Like other musicians of her generation, MarynCharlie is unashamed to explore her struggles, doubts and dreams, setting them to infectiously uplifting tunes.

A punchy beat and warbling synth chords lead the way, as Maryn’s soft vocals drift in and out like a busy butterfly. With its strumming guitar riffs, lo-fi treatment and a sparse yet effective arrangement, this track has all the bedroom-pop charm with the power of a mainstream pop song. Describing a lacklustre relationship in need of some spicing up, it is a relatable and upbeat song that will dazzle you with its bubbly and bright sound, despite the deep frustration expressed in the lyrics

“Ginger Beer” has bags – or should I say bottles? – of charm and is sure to bring a smile to your face.
