Peri Rae invites us into their daydream with an immersive track ‘Fair Enough’.

22-year-old singer/songwriter Peri Rae magically captures the trials and tribulations of 20-somethings worldwide with their eloquent and vulnerable music. Inspired by the wistfulness of acoustic Brit-pop and the quiet verbosity of Phoebe Bridges, their music seeks to capture and understand their chaotic experiences, while also sharing them with others. Peri’s latest track, ‘Fair Enough’, builds on their viral TikTok story and was recorded at their producer’s, Jessica Sharman’s, house in the country-side.

From the first burst of the gentle acoustic guitar melody and coffee-shop noises recorded while Peri was on shift, ‘Fair Enough’ invites us to immerse ourselves in an indulgent daydream. Inspired by a real-life situation from Peri’s life, this syrupy and honest track tells the story of them building up a fantasy world around a customer who turns out to be not what they expected or deserved. Progressively building up sonic layers with the help of the warm double bass and sparkling piano chords, ‘Fair Enough’ is the kind of track you can lie back into like a warm bath.

In equal parts playful and vulnerable, ‘Fair Enough’ is an example of narrative song-writing that embodies a sense of escapism and relatability.
