Packed with proclamations of his faults and fears, Ryan Nealon’s debut EP, Recovery, is a balm for the soul.
“ Establishing himself as a sincere artist within the superficial world of pop, this EP proves that Ryan Nealon and his music are ready to love.”
Packed with proclamations of his faults and fears, Ryan Nealon’s debut EP, Recovery, is a balm for the soul.
Walking along pop roads similar to that of LANY and Troye Sivan, this LA-based artist walks side by side with his peers in this collection of five songs. Shifting through the collection of tracks, Nealon moves from pop anthem to something much deeper. Slowly replacing his vibrant euphoric beats for remedying lyrics accompaniment simply by keys and soft strings. This shift is epitomised in the EP’s title and concluding track, ‘Recovery’, which beautifully depicts the restoration of Nealon’s heart following the death of his mother in 2000 and his consequent adoption by his aunt. It’s a movement which lays himself bare for the world to see. Establishing himself as a sincere artist within the superficial world of pop, this EP proves that Ryan Nealon and his music are ready to love.
