Utah siblings Silver Cup drop Slippers, a frank exploration of self-inflicted loneliness

Inspired by the fragility of Cinderella’s glass slippers, Silver Cup reflect candidly on the insurmountable obstacles of self-doubt. Telling the tale of a doomed relationship, Slippers depicts the inability to accept love in the absence of self-esteem. Mellow and intimate, it is apparent how raw this subject is to siblings Hadley and Logan, with tender lyrics standing front and centre in this sonic catharsis. Hadley’s heady vocals slide effortlessly over truncated mood changes, flitting between emphatic chorus lines and semi-spoken melodic breaks. Instrumentally, the track is as enigmatic as it is hazy. Electronic rhythms are accompanied by short sections of instrumental to create an interesting and adventurous wall of sound.

Finding solace in the solitude of self-doubt, Slippers creates beauty in the harrowing depths of mental struggle.
