Growing up in a tiny town of Chugiak, Alaska, Abi Sparkman, Daven Lind and Philip Giannulis bonded over their shared love of music and performing. Now, they are Sundog, an up-and-coming band with bags of dynamism and charisma. Blending together classic rock influences with the vibrancy of modern psych and engaging lyrical storytelling, the trio have played multiple venues across Alaska, and are ready for great things ahead.
“Millennial Man” is a tongue-in-cheek shout out to all of the softbois who build a personality out of Jean Paul Sartre quotes and sleeping in a camper van. Recorded in only three takes, the track showcases a masterful blending of live guitar, bass and drums played in the same room, providing a sense of raw emotion and old-school-rock cool. Sparkman’s airy, echoing vocals are perfectly complimented by the roughness of the psych-like guitar and punchy drumbeat, striking a balance between seductiveness and defiance.
Bursting with an infectious sense of cool and saturated with acrid humour, “Millennial Man” is the kind of emotional and sonic release rock music is all about.
