Fall in love with the spellbinding sound of ‘Sirens’, the newest track by Sunflower Thieves.
Sunflower Thieves is the Leeds-based alternative dream-folk project of two life-long friends, Amy and Lily. Through their collaborative DIY work ethic and bonds of sisterhood, the duo creates rich, dreamy soundscapes full of narrative intricacy and deep sense of emotion. Working their way from open mic performances to BBC Introducing sessions, Sunflower Thieves have even managed to find their way onto the Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent longlist for 2020, and are currently looking forward to the release of their debut EP, ‘Someone To Be There For’.
‘Sirens’ is a sound you want to bathe in – to feel it on your skin like the soft kiss of the early-autumn breeze, or to wrap it around yourself like a warming cocoon. Kicking off with a gently plucked guitar, hushed heart-like beat and hazy reverb, the track is coloured by its palpable sense of folky atmosphere, harking back to the magic of early Bon Iver. Like the eponymous mythical creatures, Amy and Lily’s vocals are magically enchanting, dancing together in lustrous harmony reminiscent of The Roaches. Together or apart, their voices become the primary musical instruments on this track, enriching it with distinct personality and romanticism.
Imbued with a sense of ease and escape, ‘Sirens’ is a heartfelt celebration of friendship, wrapped in a spellbinding sound of ethereal delicacy.
