Hopeful, youthful and catchy as hell- let The Accents’ debut EP, ‘Still on Film’ elevate your spirits.

Each of the four tracks on this EP has an unavoidable catchiness and an inexplainable thread that ties them all together sonically. Opening with the track, ‘Life in a Video’ the EP showcases the years of honing in and refinement of the Toronto-born duo’s sound, with all the appeal of a classic boyband hit in its anthemic melody, but paired with a real authenticity in the introspective quality of its lyricism. This is not something confined to just this first track however; the entire EP ebbs and flows between modern-day commerciality and beguiling samples, and a musical integrity seldom found in modern pop music of a similar sonic quality. This is what makes the EP so unique and captivating. You only have to listen to ‘Sundown’ once to be humming its melody, but the textures of sound and brooding lyrics push you further than your average skin-deep pop song.

Mastering the balance between light-heartedness and self-examination, ‘Still on Film’ is a wonderful sonic exposition of The Accents’ sound.
