Rebels with a cause, The Chase, release their newest single “Death of Me”.
It’s a family affair for The Chase. Beginning their musical journey at the tender ages of 8, 10 and 11, brothers Tyler and Dion Heaney, and their cousin Luke Childs recruited a schoolmate, James Cahill, forming a band that would go to perform sold out shows in their hometown of Nottingham. Now they are looking towards their debut performance at the Isle of Wight Festival, ready to inject the crowd with their signature blend of Britpop and classic, 60s rock’n’roll.
Jolty piano chords kick of this raucous track, ushering in a punchy rhythm and sense of defiance that spits in the face of societal expectations and clichés. As the crescendo of the chorus spills forth, warm brass melds with the energetically strumming guitars, reminiscent of classic Britpop and 00s indie rock. Tyler’s vocals are full-bodied and vibrant, containing a slight touch of The Sex Pistols in the rasping, rolled Rs, and seething with infectiously cheeky wit.
A tongue-in-cheek response to “All You Need Is Love”, “Death of Me” is a vibrant anthem for the modern times.
