Punk rock may have been on a brief hiatus, but Birmingham based band The Silver Lines are making sure it is placed at the forefront of British music once more. The Silver Lines have released their new single ‘Skin’, and this is just scratching the surface of where they’re at. Prior to this release, they have played The New Colossus festival in America, whilst their singles have been promoted by BBC Introducing with plays on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, and Radio X. ‘Skin’ may just propel them even further.
The term ‘sign of the times’ gets thrown around a lot, but the unrelenting, yet emotive piece of music certainly reflects the way many have currently been feeling. The constant riff that runs over and over doesn’t relent but instead drives the song, complimenting the heavy and simple backbeat. The Silver Lines have perfected simplicity, but there is a real beauty in simplicity.
