Enter the dark and hypnotic vision of Third Girl From The Left’s seductive new track ‘The Mountain and The Wave’.

A veteran of grass-roots music venues and folk clubs, Third Girl From The Left is an artist with a singular, mesmerising power of sonic storytelling. Inspired by Margaret McDonald’s painterly depiction of the Greek myth of Tyro, her latest track – ‘The Mountain and The Wave’ – captures the perils of misguided passion and addiction. In equal parts illusive and profound, this haunting and poetic piece of song-writing is a testament to Third Girl From The Left’s magic.

Full of sonic twists and turns, ‘The Mountain and The Wave’ is pure avant-garde theatre in musical form. From its shimmering inception in a wave of reverberating droning and sharp sibilance of hi-hats, the track swells to progressively new heights, aided by the doom-laden strumming of the bass guitar. Dripping with dark and alluring lyricism, the vocals effortlessly slide from seductive whisper to rich, expressive crooning reminiscent of the legendary Siouxsie Sioux and Kate Bush. As we wonder through this labyrinth of sound, bluesy organ sounds and textured field recordings encounter us along the way, cementing the elusive and mysterious nature of this highly inventive track.

A “twisted and reckless” journey through sound, myth and the subconscious, ‘The Mountain and The Wave’ is a track like no other.
