Baird wrote the single almost as a conversation between two people, claiming it to be about ‘recognising accountability for mistakes and misdeeds, and growing from past friendships and relationships’. Seventh Sea is a song in which its verses are the catch. They carry the intimate feel of the conversation, bringing to mind a picture of these two characters speaking these pure words and feelings during a quiet evening. It makes for a beautifully painful, personal, and relatable listening experience. For only being the young age of 22, it’s impressive that Baird’s songwriting already has so much maturity.
