Refreshingly self-aware ‘Lust at First Sight’ is an effortless debut from Viola Hutchinson
“With much more to come from this young singer/ songwriter, it’s clear that we’ll be lusting over Viola Hutchinson for some time to come.”
Love sometimes isn’t love, but rather just a spell of infatuation which you convince yourself is more. This affliction is what L.A.-based Viola Hutchinson terms ‘Lust at First Sight’ for her debut release.
Refreshingly self-aware for an artist’s single, this short three-minute lesson in lust is a wash of bedroom indie energised by undercurrents of jazz. Produced by family friend Robbie Nevil, this track finds its roots within freedom from both a relationship and a religious ideology which had accompanied Hutchinson throughout her upbringing. Touching on these weighty topics through a collection of light soliloquies which seemingly fall effortlessly off the page of a diary.
