Chilean indie outfit Volcanes debut their luminous single “Destellos”.

Formed in 2021, Volcanes is a Chilean band made up of vocalist and guitarist Christian Lazcano, bassist Fernando Hormazábal and drummer Felipe Levia. Having composed music together for the past 5 year, Lazcano and Hormazábal have taken their collaboration to the next level, currently working on their as yet unnamed first album. “Destellos”, meaning “sparkles”, is the first taste of their work, built upon the principles of pop, punk and love songs.

Opening with a solid bassline and punchy drums, “Destellos” is quick to assert itself as an accomplished and engaging track. Lazcano’s smooth and airy vocals contrast with the texture of the music, floating effortless above the rubbery beat and rocky guitar riffs. The sprinkling of synths and vibrant percussive elements give the track a vivaciousness that is hard to resist, almost reaching from beyond to increase the volume on your headphones. Like their fellow Chileans Seatemples, Volcanes create a vivid and immersive atmosphere that is sure to please any fan of shoegaze or indie-rock.

Iridescent and full of life, “Destellos” is rife with musical textures and romantic undertones, like a hazy dream on a starry summer night.
