Committed to honest and introspective song-writing, Wren began her music journey in her early teens, going on to perform at multiple venues and festivals along the US south coast. Focusing on empowering listeners through her music, she incorporates dark electronics alongside visceral, gritty lyrics that do not shy away from strong emotion. The final track of the trilogy that is ‘The Shutter Series’ EP, ‘Peroxide Medusa’ is Wren’s latest release, and a celebration of authenticity and resilience.
‘Peroxide Medusa’ is not a sound you can easily forget. Driven by a creeping rhythm and menacing sub-bass, the track takes a deep, introspective dive into the darkness of the subconscious. Constantly shifting and eliding like a nest of snakes, the arrangement incorporates ghostly distortions and warm acoustic guitar strumming, playing with mood and tone as is it recounts an emotive tale. Wren’s vocals range from velvety softness to acrid roughness as she seeks empowerment through evoking painful memories, progressively growing in power and defiance as she embraces the darkness and turns it into light.
