Zo are back with their seductive rock single “Never Meant”.

Gina Castanzo was only 17 when she was featured on the 10th season of NBC’s The Voice, gaining a spot on Team Blake with her powerful rendition of Andrew McMahon’s “Cecilia and the Satellite”. Following two albums released under her new name, Gina Zo, she is now the lead singer of Zo, performing across multiple music venues of Philadelphia alongside Buddy Mazzenga, Joe McEnany, Andrew Amado and Tyler Detulleo. “Never Meant” is the band’s return single after a two year hiatus, bringing back the vigour they are known for.

A melodic guitar opening and smoky, gently distorted vocals usher in a dark tale of dangerous, doomed love set in basement bars. Gina’s voice progressively escalates, gaining power and sensuality as her tale unfolds. “Dangerous, dangerous” she croons, and danger is indeed in the air, emphasised by the strong drumbeat, explosive guitars and sounds of a distant shotgun. Building up to invigorating chorus crescendos, the track seems to be almost cracking at the seams from emotion, yet teasingly keeps us at an armlength with its defiant demeanour.

Saturated with a noir-like atmosphere and palpable sensuality, “Never Meant” is an engrossing and lyrically-rich track for the dark evenings ahead.
