CHURCH, HONEY NEW SINGLE IS A MASTERFUL SONG TELLING A POIGNANT STORY

Church, Honey

Church, Honey have already proven they can deliver both intimate and stadium-sized sounds, and they’re destined to keep our souls engaged as we dance into the future.

Church, Honey sees singer Ben James Miller return to the stage after a three year hiatus, with an ambitious new project that emanates from his seemingly endless supply of soul. The latest single ‘Church’ is the quieter flipside to stadium-filler ‘Pity Sex’, and the two together demonstrate Miller’s versatility as a songwriter reincarnated with the confidence to dive outside their comfort zone.

If ‘Pity Sex’ captured the last passionate moment at the end of a relationship and amplified it to fill arenas, ‘Church’ places us in the aftermath of a separation with Church, Honey at their most stripped back and introspective. Supported by little more than acoustic guitars and some restrained organ, Miller piles on the visceral emotion with his voice as the narrator comes to terms with the loss of a friend and the effect this has on his faith.

Reminiscent of acoustic acts like City & Colour and Ray LaMontagne, the masterful songcraft tells a poignant story, while the soulful delivery has the power to match the vocal prowess of Sam Cooke. Church, Honey have already proven they can deliver both intimate and stadium-sized sounds, and they’re destined to keep our souls engaged as we dance into the future.
