Everything is not ‘Black and White’ with Emmy Law’s colourful new track.

Georgia native Emmy Law uses her fresh, indie-pop sound to deliver compelling stories of everyday experience. Having performed extensively across the South-eastern United States, Emmy has since moved to Nashville, where she’s released her sophomore EP, Bitter Heart, in May of this year. Recently, she has been collaborating remotely with New Jersey-based producer and singer-songwriter Shane Baker, who also has his own project, Indian Run. Combining their sounds in “a fun creative exercise”, Emmy and Shane have concocted two glistening singles, the first of which is the luminous ‘Black and White’.

Opening with a sprinkling of shimmering synths and a warm guitar line, ‘Black and White’ proceeds to play around with instrumentation and lyrics to deliver a whimsical tale of mismatched lovers. Built around catchy pop hooks and Emmy’s sugary sweet vocals, the track continues to innovate and subvert with each new crescendo of the chorus. The music almost glows and pulsates, assuming increasingly brighter colours like a butterfly come into its own.

Enormously catchy and immersive, ‘Black and White’ is a gem of track that will continue to keep its sparkle with each new listen.
