‘Bad Person’ offers a lighthearted glimpse into Garvie’s career worries

As far as lockdown projects go, Garvie certainly has a lot to shout about. While most of us gorged ourselves on uncooked banana bread, this London-based artist taught himself to produce music on the back of a rather abrupt career change from the original goal of writing for other artists. His debut single – a tongue-in-cheek analysis of his own career – embodies the virtual lands of a game console, following an indie artist’s avatar as he attempts to get signed in the cutthroat music industry. Interspersing video game sounds with the main guitar line adds a playfulness not dissimilar to Panic! At the Disco, and it’s obvious how much fun Garvie is having. For all their supposed character flaws, this ‘Bad Person’ sure is talented.
