“Hongza’s new track is brutally honest, but in short, quite simply brilliant.”

British-Vietnamese pop outfit Hongza have released their new single ‘Accolades’ which you’d imagine will bring them exactly that. ‘Accolades’ is an indie dream, capturing the same energy of many early post-2000 indie bands. Hongza noticed that with the growth of social media over the years, and with COVID-19 seeing a heavier reliance on the medium than ever before, we’re now seeing Gen Z’s lives dictated by the like, comments & followers that fuel toxic social media culture.

Hongza detected this trend of toxicity emerging from the social media world, and decided to capture these emotions through the format of music. ‘Accolades’ prevails with honest songwriting regarding the online sphere, with heart-rendering reverb and catchy lyricism. ‘Accolades’ is a vivid story of the struggles of lockdown living, spending hours making videos on TikTok, and how it all takes a toll on your mental health. Hongza’s new track is brutally honest, but in short, quite simply brilliant.
