Look back into darkness with Kyler Slater’s stirring track “Dysmorphia”.

Kyler Slater is no stranger to darkness. Having left home at the age of 14 to escape the drug culture that surrounded him, he learnt to use music both as a means for survival and as a form of self-expression in an otherwise stifling environment. Now based in Los Angeles, Slater is committed to producing music that is authentic and highly emotive as well as technically entertaining.

Opening with tentative, creeping synths “Dysmorphia” unfolds like a disarming nightmare. Embodying Slater’s dark emotions steaming from being raised by addicts, the track is a haunting and cathartic outpouring of pain. Darkly seductive and full of hidden mystery, the stomping beat and reverberating bass insistently pull us in, while the distorted backing vocals howl in the distance, intermixing with the soft falsetto of the chorus. This indisputably dark sound acquires a new level of textured depth as the track progresses, with added sibilance from claps, snares and other percussive effects that pulsate with increasing urgency like a heartbeat gone wild.

Brooding and seething with humanity, “Dysmorphia” is a larger than life track that will haunt you for days.
