Brutally honest and unapologetically defiant, LHO’s “Gaslight” is power ballad with a twist.

Brutally honest and unapologetically defiant, LHO’s “Gaslight” is power ballad with a twist.

LHO doesn’t hold back in her music. Deeply committed to the truth – no matter how brutal it may be – her confessional music is the resilient battle ram that we all need. Rooted in a poppy groove and satisfying bass, LHO’s sound is the antithesis of her sassy yet dark lyricism, but that’s what makes her new EP ‘The Butterfly Effect’ so great.

“Gaslight” is an honest depiction of a toxic relationship that momentarily stripped LHO of her power and sense of reality. With this track, she takes back control and assert herself by making the narrative her own. As the piano chords usher us onto the scene of betrayal, LHO’s powerful vocals progressively take over, aided by a steady electronic beat and a vibrating baseline. Gradually, the track builds up to a beat drop that serves as a flash of realisation – a powerful moment of self-assertion and resilience, allowing LHO to call things by their own names.

Taking instances of weakness and turning them into strengths, LHO’s music is her standing up for herself, and inevitably, encouraging us to find a similar inner power.
