19-year-old Irish singer-songwriter Mia Yermeche has a bright future ahead of her. While still training at various art schools across Ireland, she’s released her debut single, ‘Butterflies’, and wowed the judges on an episode of The Big Deal. Her follow up single, ‘Comfortable’, is further proof of Mia’s unique charisma, marrying together vibrant R’n’B production, pop-y brilliance and engaging lyric that deal with real-life situations.
“Don’t get too comfortable / until you know for sure”, croons Mia, offering some sage advice like an old and steadfast friend. It’s a seemingly simple message – carried by a similarly unfussy yet effective arrangement of R’n’B inspired beats and groovy guitar riffs – but one which carries great resonance and personable warmth. As the piano chords punctuate the swaying rhythm of the track, we gradually grow persuaded and surrender to Mia’s feel-good sound – leaving any and all toxicity well behind.
