Violent delights may have violent ends, but Milo Gore isn’t going anywhere but straight into the depths of our soul.

Violent delights may have violent ends, but Milo Gore isn’t going anywhere but straight into the depths of our soul.

If one were to describe Milo Gore in two words, it would be “brutally honest”. Taking inspiration from his own past struggles, he bares his soul to his audience, finding resonance in every corner. His is the music that is unashamedly introspective yet also universal – speaking to our shared experiences of personal struggle, the perils of growing up and the desire for understanding. It is a gift to successfully translate messy and often dark emotions into words, and Gore certainly has buckets of it.

“Midnight Clubs” is a deeply atmospheric track that plunges us into the smoky rooms of house-parties’ past, full of chatting noise, permissive darkness and pre-emptive nostalgia. Powered by driving guitars and escalating drums, “Midnight Clubs” is reminiscent of indie-rock germs of the ’00 and early ’10, the kind that defined a generation and continue to live on in our heads past our adolescent days.

As the track comes to a head-banging crescendo, we cannot help but be pulled along into Gore’s whirlwind of nostalgia, longing for something that is just beyond our reach.
