Riley Urbano explores the contemporary American dream through the genre of  indie-rock

Inspired by the mania and “occasional horror” of living in American cities, there’s an element of incoherence to ‘Propaganda of the Deed’. A staunch follower of “weirdo rock”, multi-instrumentalist Riley Urbano cleverly darts between seemingly disparate musical elements and genres. Late-summer guitar riffs are counteracted by the offbeat presence of lone bass sections, introducing new sounds through the use of mismatching rhythms and tempos. At its heart, the track is a political critique of what Riley terms “late capitalist insanity” of the American dream. His lyrics - intangible and considered - explore culture, Pavlov’s bell and mid-city accommodation choices through poetic snippets of broader themes that leave an afterthought long after the final chord. However, ‘Propaganda of the Deed’ is anything but disjointed, with each sound carefully balanced to create a rich and politically-motivated soundscape of contemporary society.

Intelligent and abstract, Riley Urbano vocalises the conflicts of social politics through glorious indie-pop-rock fusion.
