Alternative duo Longlight release their second single ‘Alara’, an 80s-inspired pop rock ballad celebrating the fundamental relationships which define and nourish the human experience. Underscored by a lone electric guitar, the track opens modestly. Jo Williams’ soulful vocals are amplified by the use of echoes, achieving a rich and expansive sound which reverberate well beyond the speaker. Soon after, Lucas Polo’s trademark guitar line crescendos into a gloriously-layered apex, pairing with retro synth and a pacing drum beat. Lyrically, the track takes a paired back approach. “If you need me, I’ll be here,” proclaims Jo in reference to the fundamentality of human contact, no doubt a sentiment exacerbated in recent times.

No Swoon is a band from Los Angeles formed in 2016, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Tasha Abbott and bassist/keyboardist Zack Nestel-Patt. Their music draws from Dream Pop, Shoegaze, and Post-Punk revival with an ear for capturing tone and mood. The track has a dark and brooding sense of ever present danger that folds into a glimmering chorus that will capture the hearts of any fans of dark and hopeful dream pop.
