RUTHEE is a genre-defying family trio consisting of Nicholas, Olivia and Ben Gomez. Beginning as a fun, creative outlet, the band are now looking towards releasing their music into the wider world, and boy is the world ready to receive it! With a mix of indie rock, psychedelia and R’n’B, RUTHEE concocts an indescribable, yet highly immersive atmosphere that will haunt you long after the last beat.
Imagine if neon lights were to blend with the brightest rays of summer sunshine – that is the sound “Breathe the Same”. From the first click of the cassette player, this track unfolds like psychedelic daydream, combining the laid-back feel of bedroom-pop with a woozy retro sound reminiscent of a stripped-back Tame Impala. Olivia’s immersive vocals float above a bed of glowing synths and funky bass guitar, dripping with illusive nostalgia and deep indulgence. Despite the heavy subject matter of emotional turmoil and trauma, the song retains a certain lightness as a way of striving towards reconciliation and understanding.
