Fresh from the chart-topping success of ‘Sunrise’, The Letter Elle – also known as Gabrielle Emery – releases the glorious ‘Be Your Lady’. Though its melodic emphasis on pop marks a distinct shift from her trademark alternative R&B, it’s a creative decision which more than pays off, and The Letter Elle effortlessly creates a confident and full-bodied sound through her multi-instrumental abilities. Co-produced with Harry Fox, ‘Be Your Lady’ complements the extravagance of brass with a myriad of everyday sounds. Conversation and the sound of kitchen appliances are ingeniously utilized as percussion in reference to lockdown and the home environment in which this track was borne.
Humble in origin but exuberant in execution, ‘Be Your Lady’ is the dance anthem of better times ahead.
