Wash away all your fears ‘By The Coast’ in Thomas LaVine and Luna Keller’s new single. A warm swell of acoustic guitar highlighted by bubbling vocals, this folk track is the meeting of musical minds from oceans apart. Written over Zoom, the American LaVines and Spain based Keller have forged a collaboration fuelled through the tools of a pandemic.

Seductively dark, this track written and produced from the artist’s LA apartment doesn’t hesitate to fall into a blackhole of impending doom which you can’t look (or listen) away from. Led into battle by marching guitar, whirling synths and harmonic ghosts of fears past, KYNS angelic voice is the only sound powerful enough to conduct this underworld of instrumentation.

This year has been full of highs and lows but the thing that has kept our spirits high is the incredible talent that have pushed through turbulent times to release music that has filled us and many others with bliss. So to end the year on a positive note here is our list of the favourite releases of 2020.

There is a long list of musical talent coming out of Australia, and Ziggy Alberts is leading the way at the forefront of it. Ziggy has won various awards already, and with over 1.59 million monthly listeners on Spotify, once you listen, you can’t help but stay. His Aussie charm is so enticing, and the music even more so. For those who have been following Ziggy from the start, his success will be of no surprise, whereas for those who are just joining his journey, what a treat you’re in for.

As we reach the end of the most enduring year that is 2020, it really is a time to reflect, and Telemarkk have done so with their new single ‘Reflections’ that encapsulates the year. Hailed as Electro-Indie maestros, in between lockdowns Telemarkk delved further into their fascination with atmospheric synth-pop, with the end product being a hugely nostalgic site for reflecting on the year gone by. Does the thought of a fresh start scare you? Well, Tom Saint is here with his new single ‘Ghost’ to guide you through the daunting concept of a fresh start. construing the concepts of rejection and mourning, ‘Ghost’ is a useful insight, and scary feeling of being haunted by a new start. Having been featured heavily on BBC Introducing with his single ‘Sand In Your Eyes’, there is no doubt ‘Ghost’ will also follow suit. 

You’d easily be forgiven for thinking you have been transported back to the early 2000s when you listen to Elliott Jones’ new single ‘Light A Match’. Elliott’s new single is a huge anthem reminiscent of the Britpop era, combined with a modern Indie twist, and it is massive. ‘Light A Match’ is a song for strong-minded people who don’t have the confidence to speak out on socio-cultural issues that would help us live in a better world. 

There’s one thing you need to know about Lawrn, they put everything into their music, and their latest single ‘Too Much Love’ shows exactly this. The idyllic synthpop single is the third single from the bands’ upcoming EP, and it is simply beautiful. Lawrn are a London-based alt-pop band that seems to grow from strength to strength with each single they release. Fans of The 1975, Lauv, and LANY will go crazy for these guys.

Bits Of Alan are brilliant, but when you listen to them you get the whole lot. And they are sensational. Bits Of Alan initially started off with their spoken word vocals mixed with acoustic-driven tracks, they experimented briefly in 2017 following the introduction of Ethan Stauffer to the band, fast forward three years to 2020 and they have returned to their initial acoustic sound, and how brilliant it is too. 

 Have you been craving that spellbinding alt-rock sound? Well, look no further than Pochenski who have returned with their awesome new single ‘How Long’. Pochenski are a British alt-rock band hailing from London and Manchester. ‘How Long’ is filled head to toe with experimental guitars and sophisticated lyrics, it truly is a soundtrack for strange times. Released on the 4th December 2020, and with lots more music in the works, 2021 is set to be a very good year for Pochenski.

Post Rome are quickly gaining mass attention, and it is all for the right reasons. Back with their new single ‘The Idea of Having a Boyfriend’, Post Rome are taking their brand of ambitious alt-rock/pop up to a new level, and we are totally here for it. Having received support on their previous releases from the likes of BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, and It’s All Indie, there are no boundaries for these guys.

It’s never too late to try again, but in this instance, there is no need. Rienne’s new single ‘Try Again’ shows that sometimes, you just get it right. Although ironically, Rienne is a self-confessed perfectionist has four versions of the song. Rienne is Influenced by the likes of Clairo, Diamond Cafe, and Wallows, and has been featured in multiple music blogs such as Stereo Sickman, The Indie Source, and WokeChimp. The future is very, very bright for Rienne. 

Another single to add to the ever-growing creative talent, that is Sofia Dragt. A hugely talented artist, who sees no reason to limit herself, writing music for advertising campaigns, and winning various awards. However, perhaps Sofia was always destined for the creative arts, as a child she would sit on her stool listening to CD’s pretending she was a classical conductor. Maybe she always knew her childhood dreams would turn into reality. 

Are you worried / Do you worry? Well, you shouldn’t have to when Kimbo Nice are supplying super feel-good tunes like ‘Joop! Home’. A four-piece band from Bristol, Kimbo Nice have seen the progression of their band grow from laid-back singles to upbeat, cheeky Indie music. As a result of this, ‘Joop! Home’ has been featured on multiple Spotify playlists, including the main Fresh Finds playlist. 

Don’t hesitate to turn your speakers up full blast when you listen to Stef Pesic’s brand new funky single. Stef Pesic is a singer-songwriter born and raised in London, returning with his latest single ‘Don’t Hesitate’. Stef’s love and desire to create music stems from his childhood. Growing up Stef’s father had an extensive collection of music, and you can tell from Stef Pesic’s music he is very well educated on the topic, and as such is capable of creating energetic anthems. 

Now more than ever it feels like we live in a world where all we have are goodbyes. Where every meeting could be our last and guidelines can flip in a matter of minutes, The Islas have encapsulated the slow acceptance of change in their latest single, ‘Last Time Forever’.
