Artfair explore the ‘Bittersweet’ nature of love in their anthemic new track.
Londoners Artfair are ready to take over stadiums with their buoyant alt-pop sound. Having met in a murky tavern in Camden, Marland Barsby, Joe Branch, Lucas Rigauts, Joe Gutteridge and Ben Porteous quickly found themselves selling out their debut headlining show. Since then, the band have been busy making magic in the studio with producer Dax Liniere and are looking forward to their biggest show yet, headlining London touring venue the Camden Assembly. Their latest release, ‘Bittersweet’, is a visceral portrayal of heartbreak, and is accompanied by a self-produced and directed music video that explores the story through the medium of interpretive dance.
Capturing the duality of love and its breakdowns, ‘Bittersweet’ switches between quieter moments of reflection and the sweeping energy of the rousing choruses. As the gentle piano tinkling melds perfectly into the pitter-patter of the bright guitar melody, Barsby’s evocative vocals are brought to the forefront, pointed and determined in their storytelling efforts. There is no shying away from extremes of emotion here, and the track fully embraces the disquieting energy of heartbreak, turning it into an anthemic sonic catharsis.
