Claiming his time in the spotlight, SHYAWAY’s latest release, ‘Smile For The Camera’ is an intoxicating commentary society’s performatism
The solo project of Brighton-based multi-instrumentalist Adam Macaulay, he takes pop and makes it uniquely his own. Breaking free from the silence through a guitar which soon becomes a voice in its own right, Macaulay claims dominance through his stylistic commentary on modern culture. Falling from the precarious heights of deep bass, light keys and whirling synth, the track spirals down an agonisingly short refrain down the rabbit hole of brass. Only making to the other side momentarily for a final chorus to hammer home the track’s message.
In friction with SHYAWAY’s name, we can only be grateful that he is not shying away from his political calling and with a mini-album tipped for release before the year is out it seems that his revolution is close at hand.
